Crafting the story
of your space
Every space tells a story– of your habits, tastes, and memories of a life well lived. It’s our responsibility to uncover and translate that story into an interior that feels functional, personal, and welcoming.
Our aesthetic is influenced by nature, fashion, art, and above all else, people. When you partner with us, we’re laser-focused on one question– what story do you want your space to tell?
Everything we do starts with you– your needs, your space, and your story. Who you are is the foundation of every decision we make. Because of this, we take a personal approach to each and every client. It’s not about showcasing our signature style; it’s about understanding your way of living and elevating the spirit of your surroundings.
Birds of a Feather
A tight-knit team of 8; pouring our hearts into a shared dream.
While each of our team members comes from a different background and possesses a distinct skillset and eye for aesthetics, what we all have in common is our deep-rooted empathy and passion for the art of interiors. Our studio is built on respect for one another, kindness, and trust that ripples out into the work we do every single day. We are risk takers who wear our hearts on our sleeves, fueled by a curious nature and filled to the brim with gratitude for the work we get to do every single day.
About Tess
As the founder of Tess Interiors, Tess leads with passion and empathy, and approaches every project with honesty, authenticity, and a great deal of care. Rather than subscribing to trends, Tess works with her clients to hone in on the character of their spaces. She believes that you are one of a kind and your home should be, too.
Founder & Principal Designer
Prior to starting Tess Interiors, Tess earned her BFA in Interior Design. She went on to work for several firms, gaining experience in workplace, retail, hospitality, and residential design. Tess lived in Rome, Minneapolis, and San Francisco before returning to her roots in Los Angeles. Her background has shaped her into an endlessly versatile designer–creating massively different environments with distinct functions based on the individual project needs. Curious by nature, Tess embraces the unknown and welcomes projects that expand her horizons. Tess is an extrovert, through and through. Her love of people is the driving force behind her designs. Meeting someone new and learning their story is her greatest joy. Her ability to connect with a complete stranger allows her to translate her client’s unspoken desires into a physical reality.
Director of Accounting
Nate is the Yin to Tess' Yang, and in this case, he is the "left brain" to her "right." Nate is a natural numbers guy–analytical, methodical, and data-driven. He takes care of the not so pretty, but ever so important details that keep Tess Interiors going. When he's not helping Tess behind the scenes, you can find him on the track racing his M3 or backcountry skiing.
Senior Designer
The most important ingredient that makes a good designer is empathy, and Marisa has an extra spoonful (or two). Her ability to put herself in other people's shoes is what allows her to create beautiful spaces that make sense for the people that live in them. Marisa has been a designer for almost 15 years and has been the voice of reason at Tess Interiors since day one. Aside from her endless supply of wisdom and positivity, Marisa is a millwork wizard. She trained with her father, who is a woodworker, and has a special knack for making all of our crazy ideas actually possible.
Senior Designer
With more than 10 years of experience under her belt, Chelsea knows the ins and outs of the interior design world. She can crank out a construction set faster than you can say "AutoCAD" and she's not afraid to turn up the funk, no matter what the design is. Forever marching to the beat of her own drum, Chelsea always puts authenticity at the heart of her work. Her go-with-the-flow personality radiates among the team, making everyone feel like "we got this!" no matter what "this" might be.
Intermediate Designer
Emily's got a mind for business, a tender heart, and a great eye. Starting her design career on the administrative side has shaped Emily into the designer she is today–detail oriented and process-minded. A true team player, Emily is always looking out for the best interest of the studio, whether she's refining internal systems or taking the time to connect with someone one on one. Emily’s passion for the arts and pursuit of improvement is both infectious and impactful.
Intermediate Designer
In true Virgo form, Diana is practical, detail-oriented, and reliable. Professional demeanor aside, she is a creative force and a gem of a human being. Diana has felt like a seasoned member of our team from the moment she joined. Her keen eye and sincere nature, along with her unfailing kindness and adventurous spirit perfectly round out the design team.
Procurement Coordinator
Maddy's experience on both the design side as well as the procurement side of this industry has shaped her into a powerhouse of knowledge and efficiency. She plays an integral part in every single one of our projects, making sure everyone is aligned including the design team, the clients, and the builders. On top of all that, she is an absolute joy to work with.
Office Manager
As a mother and a teacher, Annie is accustomed to having a lot on her plate. Her background has equipped her with a "can-do" attitude, making her approach new tasks with grace and enthusiasm. Her innate ability to stay organized and on top of it keeps Tess Interiors running like a well-oiled-machine. Annie has put systems in place the team truly could not live without, but more importantly, she's instated a "work hard, play hard" philosophy that the team has no choice but to adhere to due to her infectious smile and goofy personality.
